reading challenge for hassan coming!

No pic this time .. just sharing my intentions of doing the READING CHALLENGE for Hassan the NINE year old Nigerian orphan we support with $2000 a year! He lives at the new UM orphanage in Jalingo, Nigeria and his parents both died of HIV AIDS and his twin brother of Malaria. He came to the orphanage at age 5 and we have been supporting him for four years now!

I dreamed up this project and adapted it from another church that did something similar in Lincoln -- the goal is to have folks read books starting sunday aug 22 - Oct 17 and read, get pledges and raise money for Hassan's support!

We will see if i get Shock Doctrine read (my last blog) and a pile of other books too.. if you want to join us, just let me know -- and if you live away you can make your own Pledge sheet. Just get the names of folks to pledge by the page or book on a sheet and make your own.. or you can pledge yourself. Then list the books or page you have read.

Then collect your pledges and bring them Oct 17 to Trinity UMC, Grand island, NE or send your total check to me! I can take the pledges in with mine sunday oct 17 as i will be there with a basket for pledges! Happy reading! We give out the pledge sheets at the All God's children forum Sunday at 10 am, Gollagher chapel along with Tennis shoe sunday : walking and reading to help others! Hope you can join us!
